Artist
My artwork comes from a deep curiosity about the world, especially nature. I usually start with a drawing as looking closely into something is the best way to find its essence.
I'm also interested in process and use different materials to express myself. I like to build images from layers, whether it's paint, print, collage or stitch.
Traditional crafts, particularly ceramics, inspire me. I have a great respect and love for needlework and often draw upon the traditions of patchwork and decorative stitch in creating my own work. Traditional stitching techniques are added to my own prints to create work that reflects upon domestic life and the natural world.
I am currently on a part-time Fine Art Degree Course at Hereford College of Art and have run community-based art workshops for Studio Response and Meadow Arts.

A response to an Iron Age hill fort site above Monmouth
I was thrilled to be selected for this public art commission which was set up jointly by Buckholt Bryngaer CIC and Hereford College of Art.
Inspired by the quiet concentration of the dig at Buckholt, I reflected on the delicacy of archaeological work and the thrill of anticipation - of potentially uncovering something rare.
I collected nine different soils from the site and used them to permanently mark clay tiles I made to echo the shape of Iron Age axe heads. The tiles have been through a saggar firing, resulting in subtle variations in colour and texture.
It’s an unpredictable process which mirrors the experience of the diggers, who are never sure what they might find.
Visitors will come across my work, hung from trees in the woodland lining the sculpture trail which features the work of four other artists. They can hold the tiles in their palm as an archaeologist might examine an artefact they’ve unearthed from the soil. The Sculpture Trail opened on 14th December and is open to all.
